About Grownasssimmer

So, What is a grownasssimmer?

It’s probably the question I get asked the most: How did you come up with that name?

The story is pretty simple. I discovered The Sims in my early 40s, which made me an older Simmer compared to the younger crowd I assumed made up most of the community. So, naturally, I called myself Grownasssimmer.

Turns out, I wasn’t nearly as unusual as I thought.

The more involved I became with the Sims community, the more I discovered that there were a LOT of us grown-ass people playing with virtual people. People with careers, families, mortgages, questionable life choices, and an alarming willingness to spend hours making sure a digital stranger’s house had just the right kitchen cabinets.

In other words, a lot of us are Grownasssimmers.

And honestly? I think that’s pretty fabulous.

What is Grownasssimmer?

Grownasssimmer started as my corner of The Sims community, but it’s grown into something much bigger: a creative playground where storytelling, comedy, animation, and a healthy disregard for the expected all get to hang out together.

I create Sims videos, develop original characters and story lines, experiment with visual storytelling, and occasionally take my Sims somewhere they probably shouldn’t go. From reality-TV absurdity to spy drama and stories with a little more emotional weight, I’m interested in what happens when you take a game, a bunch of virtual people, and an overactive imagination and see what you can make of them.

Sometimes it’s ridiculous. Sometimes it’s cinematic. Sometimes there’s an actual plot hiding underneath all the nonsense.

That’s kind of the point.

The person behind the pixels

I’m Stacey, a visual storyteller, digital artist, and lifelong creative who has spent decades working with images, design, and ideas. I came to The Sims as a player, but it didn’t take long for me to start seeing it as something else: a place to build worlds, direct characters, tell stories, and make things that didn’t exist before I imagined them.

I’m interested in the funny stuff, the strange stuff, the messy human stuff, and the moments when something completely absurd turns out to have something real to say.

I don’t think creativity has an expiration date, and I don’t think you have to be young to play, experiment, or make a glorious mess of things while figuring out what comes next.

If anything, getting older gives you more material.

Come on in.

Grownasssimmer is where I get to experiment, create, tell stories, and occasionally let my Sims make spectacularly bad decisions for the entertainment of the rest of us.

You’ll find videos, original projects, animations, characters, and whatever else happens when curiosity and creativity refuse to behave themselves.

Whether you’ve been playing The Sims since the beginning or just discovered it yesterday, you’re welcome here.

After all, you don’t have to be a certain age to be a Grownasssimmer.

But it doesn’t hurt.
